Wormholes in Maximal Supergravity
In this brief note, we reconsider the problem of finding Euclidean wormhole solutions to maximal supergravity in d dimensions. We find that such solutions exists for all d ≤ 9. However, we argue that, in toroidally-compactified string theories, these saddle points never contribute to the path integral because of a tension with U-duality. متن کاملWormholes and Entanglement
Maldacena and Susskind have proposed a correspondence between wormholes and entanglement, dubbed ER=EPR. We study this in the context of 3d topological quantum field theory, where we show that the formation of a wormhole is the same process as creating a particle-antiparticle pair. A key feature of the ER=EPR proposal is that certain apparently entangled degrees of freedom turn out to be the sa...
متن کاملInstantons and Wormholes in N = 2 supergravity
In this paper, we construct Euclidean instanton and wormhole solutions in d = 4, N = 2 supergravity theories with hypermultiplets. The analytic continuation of the hypermultiplet action, involving pseudoscalar axions, is discussed using the approach originally developed by Coleman which determines the apparence of boundary terms. In particular, we investigate the conditions obtained by requirin...
متن کاملMultiboundary Wormholes and Holographic Entanglement
The AdS/CFT correspondence relates quantum entanglement between boundary Conformal Field Theories and geometric connections in the dual asymptotically Antide Sitter space-time. We consider entangled states in the n−fold tensor product of a 1+1 dimensional CFT Hilbert space defined by the Euclidean path integral over a Riemann surface with n holes. In one region of moduli space, the dual bulk st...
متن کاملMicroscopic wormholes and the geometry of entanglement
It has recently been suggested that Einstein– Rosen (ER) bridges can be interpreted as maximally entangled states of two black holes that form a complex Einstein– Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) pair. This relationship has been dubbed as the ER = EPR correlation. In this work, we consider the latter conjecture in the context of quadratic Palatini theory. An important result, which stems from the underlyin...
